Nicole Parton’s Hot Chocolate Mix

If your family loves hot chocolate, this is my holiday gift to you! I wouldn’t dream of buying a commercial mix when I can prepare this delicious homemade hot chocolate mix in less than a minute. I’ve given you this mix recipe in three quantities: One for small households, one for households with kids, and a mega-size for you to package up, tie with a ribbon, and give to your family and friends as a last-minute gift. It’s hard for me to part with this recipe - it’s been one of my trade secrets for years!
Nicole Parton’s Hot Chocolate Mix:
Small Quantity of Mix:
¼ c. granulated sugar
1 c. skim milk powder
2 tbsp. unsweetened pure cocoa powder
Add all ingredients to blender, mixing on high to reduce skim milk powder and sugar to a finer blend. To use, add 1 or 2 heaping tablespoons to a heat-proof mug with enough evaporated milk or heavy cream to make a smooth paste. Top with boiling water.
Medium Quantity of Mix:
1 c. granulated sugar
4 c. skim milk powder
½ c. unsweetened pure cocoa powder
Add all ingredients to blender, mixing on high to reduce skim milk powder and sugar to a finer blend. To use, add 1 or 2 heaping tablespoons to a heat-proof mug with enough evaporated milk or heavy cream to make a smooth paste. Top with boiling water.
Large Quantity of Mix:
4 c. granulated sugar
16 c. skim milk powder
2 c. unsweetened pure cocoa powder
Combine all ingredients in very large bowl or roasting pan. Add to blender in batches, mixing on high to reduce skim milk powder and sugar to a finer blend. To use, add 1 or 2 heaping tablespoons to a heat-proof mug with enough evaporated milk or heavy cream to make a smooth paste. Top with boiling water.
