Mulled Apple Juice

This is a cold-weather holiday favorite for me. I generally bundle the spices in a 6-in. square of cheesecloth and dump them and the apple juice into a clean coffee urn so guests can help themselves. Be sure to keep a drip-pan under the spigot to avoid a sticky mess! 

Non-Alcoholic Mulled Apple Juice:
6 c. apple juice
6 tbsp. packed brown sugar
1 lemon, sliced
2 cinnamon sticks, broken
6 whole cloves
6 whole allspice
Combine in medium saucepan. Bring to boil, stirring just until sugar is dissolved. Cover and simmer 10 min. Strain and ladle hot apple juice into glasses. Makes 12 punch-cup size servings.
